Acid and Alkali Thermocouple - Teflon Protective Sleeve

Teflon Sleeved Thermocouples measure temperatures in highly corrosive acids and alkalis. The thermocouple measures temperatures up to 200 °C, suitable for applications such as plating, pickling, and acid baths. The sheath is constructed of SS316 / SS316L and then covered with a teflon sleeve to protect the RTD element from corrosion and heat degradation by the acidic or alkaline medium. Angular assemblies are available on request which enable the RTD sensor to be installed in complex positions. The standard terminal head is made of plastic; stainless steel (SS) heads can also be designed on request.

Thermocouples with perforated tips are used for measuring temperatures in indoor applications with flowing air such as in office cooling, refrigerated storage units and warehouses. The perforated tip is designed to rapidly monitor the temperature of flowing air, with an ability to detect even minor changes. This thermocouple measures temperatures up to 400°C. It is constructed with a die cast aluminium head, which offers a strong and lightweight structure. The thermocouple is built with a K type calibration as standard, an optional N type calibrations can also be made.

Noble metal thermocouples measure temperatures in high temperature applications such as hot blast furnace, pellet stove and fluidised bed. Noble metal platinum conductors, used in the thermocouples, have good resistance to oxidation and corrosion at high temperatures. The thermocouples are built with twin/four hole 99.4% pure recrystallised alumina (KER 710) insulators as standard which have very high wear resistance. They can also be made in non metals like silicon carbide and in mineral insulated versions like inconel and moly sheath. For even higher measuring temperatures, single as well as dual protection tubes are available. The thermocouple measure temperatures upto 1700 deg C. The sheath is cemented inside a SS collar for mounting to the terminal head which ensures a rigid connection. The thermocouple are made in options of welded as well as adjustable flanges and threaded process connections made of stainless steel. They are also available with other process mountings and assembly options.

Multisheathed thermocouples are designed for hazardous environments like furnaces where there are toxic gases at high temperatures. They have 2 layers or protective sheaths, making them suitable for measuring temperatures in highly corrosive environments. The inner layer is made of high quality ceramic which prevents the entry of toxic gases. The outer sheath is made of stainless steel-SS446, which is immune to corrosion for a wide range of temperatures and it protects the sheath from thermal shock which means it does not allow differential expansions that may damage the thermocouple. The inner sheath is built with one end closed recrystallised alumina tubes as a standard which have very high wear resistance. These thermocouples are available in all types of process connections: adjustable compression fittings, welded fittings, hex nipples, round nipples, welded flanges, adjustable flanges, sanitary fittings.
